Today I finally played with my new linocut stuff for the first time. Fun! Printing on paper is easy, but I have yet to find a way to get saturated prints on fabric. I don’t have a press and you have to push really hard to get it into the fabrics. So far, the best results I got when placing the fabric on the colored stamp and rub it in with a spoon. I only have one brand of fabric paint, maybe there are others available, better suited for printing. More experiments are needed, but I would not mind getting a hint if you have experience with that!
The carving part is fun (I only cut into my finger once). Still have nine healthy fingers so as soon as I’ve finished a book or two, I’ll try to carve something more challenging … :)

Really. I like working in the garden only in spring, when I need sun and can see nature coming back. As soon as it becomes hot outside, I prefer to hide inside in the shadows. And all the hard stuff, like mowing the lawn and such is hubbys job anyway. In fact, everything I don’t want to do is his job. Ah well, I’m lucky… :D
But just now I enjoyed gardening for the first time this year. Getting rid off all the old and dead stuff. This little guy actually wanted to come in with me, found it sitting on my shoulder when I was already in the bathroom. Not much and he would have landed in the dirty laundry basket …

I expected on of these parcels to come today. But lucky me got all three at once! Wuah! Supply overload! Where to start? All the fabrics, a lot of possibilities. And the yummy suede! The lino print stuff will be an experiment. Did that years ago (decades to be honest) in school last and have no idea wether I have talent to use it in a way that makes sense. But it sure will be fun to try. Maybe also hurt a bit if I’m to clumsy and cut myself some fingers away …

Tulips, daffodils and a tiny little snowdrop. If they can survive long, depressing winters, I can too! :)

Some years ago, when I started to draw and paint, I really thought that I would be much better if only I’d have the right materials. I tried them all and I can tell you, that’s not true. Good material doesn’t make you a better artist. Okay, some technics and methods can only be done with the right papers, good brushes will make it easier, quality paints will simply look better … But the truth is - a great artist will have wonderful results with the most cheap stuff too!
Yep. And still, I can’t stop buying artist materials! See the cupboard with some of my stuff… :D
This time I was good, though. I only got some new brushes, pens and a good quality watercolor paper that I’ll try to use for some books.

If only everything in my life would be so neat and tidy… and, no wait! Boring! :D
Okay, after reading the comments I think I have to make something clear here: I did not organize the files in any way, that’s just how it shows up when I open the stick on my computer. Don’t let this fool you. Hehehe…

Look what sweet surprise I found in my mailbox today! Coming all the way from Malta! Joanne really had fun starting with polymer clay for the “Make something New” challenge! I don’t really feel like I deserve this reward for hosting the challenge but hey - I will not complain! Thank you Joanne! Hippo already found it’s place on my studio computer and makes me smile whenever I see it :)

Strange thing is that there are the calories printed on each Snickers! Tsk … better I eat them quickly so that reminder is gone!
