Both eyes open

 1603.jpg2300.jpg3197.jpg

Today my Daruma reached me. Bought it from Petronella. There is an interesting story for Daruma dolls,  read Petronellas description here.
I will paint one eye, as I have a very important goal that I’m trying to reach for years now. Who knows, maybe that grumpy little guy will help me and I will be able to also color his second eye sometimes …

And then -  more stuff to experiment with printing on fabrics.  Keep your fingers crossed for me. For the goal and for the printing success :)

Shame on Copycats

A bookbinding colleague showed me this. It’s for sale in an online shop. Now what do you think?
I have seen work that I thought was inspired by what I do. Well, that’s okay. Nothing one can do against that I think. But this one comes just to close … Am I right?
Update: The seller answered and told me that the similarity was not something done on purpose. She took the book out of her shop. I therefore deleted the photos and all is good.

Euro Week on Etsy

europe2.jpgMost of my sales on Etsy still go out of Europe. With the US beeing my best customers, followed by Australia and Canada. This week “Europe” is highlighted on Etsy and I would love to welcome more buyers from within Europe. Even though I have to pay 20% vat on these sales … :)

The travelling journal - the sequel :)

11102.jpg Marie, one of my lovely customers, is travelling with her new journal too! :)
“Here it is in Auburn, California in honor of a 50K race called Way Too Cool. On the bank of the Sacramento River, which is fitting seeing that the paddleboat on the cover was inspired by another event held here, not 50 yards from this very spot.”

My journals really see much more from the world than me! :D

First Linocut results

1601.jpg486.jpg3196.jpg

I’m still far away from getting fully saturated prints on fabric. But anyway, I like the look this finished book has. No, like is not enough. I’m very happy with this one, yes! :)

The Sense of Touch & Textures

 1600.jpg3195.jpg485.jpg

Sabine is this weeks challenge boss and she found an interesting theme I think. And you really should check out all the fantastic pieces she already collected.
For my entry I  used different smooth or fluffy leathers, sew it all together in a somewhat crazy way and topped it with a beautiful coconut-shell button. Will be available in my Etsy shop soon …

My Self Portrait

12101.jpgheliodiscus.jpg14100.jpg

Dawn is hosting this weeks EST challenge with the theme “Self Portrait”. Egocentric, egoistic, egomaniac beast that I am, I could not let go this one, right? :D First I had planned to make a real painting, but unfortunately time was short this week so this one has to do. Will list it in my Etsy shop soon …

I should write “FAIL” all over it, though. I bought cinema tickets to see “Alice” this afternoon. Only when hubby printed them out he saw that I ordered them for yesterday. Yeah! Big, fat fail. And I SO looked forward seeing it. Well, next week, next chance!
