Artist Materials

Some years ago, when I started to draw and paint, I really thought that I would be much better if only I’d have the right materials. I tried them all and I can tell you, that’s not true. Good material doesn’t make you a better artist. Okay, some technics and methods can only be done with the right papers, good brushes will make it easier, quality paints will simply look better … But the truth is - a great artist will have wonderful results with the most cheap stuff too!

Yep. And still, I can’t stop buying artist materials! See the cupboard with some of my stuff…  :D

This time I was good, though. I only got some new brushes, pens and a good quality watercolor paper that I’ll try to use for some books.

You are right of course however I did learn that for beginners in particular it is very helpful to have the best possible materials, very cheap watercolour for instance can behave strange on paper and that can make you very unhappy if you are just starting to learn and haven’t mastered a lot of techniques yes…
