Linocut, the second

1597.jpgSpent a lot of time yesterday evening to cut out the swirl tree. My plans for this morning where different, but I just had to try printing it right now :)
Am very happy with the result on paper. It’s the acrylic stained paper I use for my books. Think I can master that with more practice. The one in the right corner is just an experiment in texture …
The result on fabric is still very poor. Not saturated at all. Will order other colors and see if that makes a difference. Oh and I also want to try it on different papers. I sense a new obsession coming … so many possibilities!

Beautiful design! I use Permaset Aqua inks for block printing on fabric - I apply it to the lino by dabbing with a sponge (I know, I’m supposed to use a brayer, but this is how I get results!), applying ink quite generously (sometimes applying more than one layer helps). Then, as you said, I press down really hard! Sometimes I find it helps to temporarily adhere the lino cut to an acrylic or wooden block for more even results. I hope that helps, & keep experimenting! Happy printing (:
